Ikat is a processing of tying and dying yarns before weaving. Ikat combined with tapestry technique for weaving lets the it pattern fall where it may and provids inspiration for the tapestry. In my ikat wall hanging "Sunset at Lost Lake", I let the dyed patterns just happen and obtained a dramatic and watery effect. I then added the mountain in tapestry technique to complete the wall hanging.
